Molecular processes occurring in polyethylene + nanoclay nanocomposites under the influence of an electric field

ABSTRACT

The processes of changes in the structures of polyethylene (PE) and nanocomposites based on nanoclay (NG) after exposure to an electric field are investigated. It is shown that after the influence of an electric field, as a result of the rupture of macromolecules, C=C groups are formed. The rupture of macromolecules leads to a decrease in molecular weight. It was found that the rate of decrease in molecular weight and the formation of C=C groups in nanocomposites compared to PE are much lower.
