Investigation of the role of various components of the dipole moment of liquid crystal molecules in orientational polarization
 pdf

ABSTRACT

The role of various components of the dipole moment of liquid-crystal molecules MK1-MK5 in the orientational polarization has been studied. In the frequency range of 1 MHz - 100 MHz of the electric field, a dispersion ε` was found, accompanied by dielectric losses ε. The dependence of the quasi-statistical numbers ε11, ε, and εiz on temperature for MK1 and MK5 has been studied. It is shown that the studied MC molecules have a large positive dielectric anisotropy with respect to the dipole structure. The activation energy U11 required for the reorientation of liquid crystal molecules MK1-MK5 was also calculated. The obtained experimental results show that the molecular dispersion observed in the Kerr effect in the radio range is the dispersion of the dielectric anisotropy in the mass.
