ABSTRACT

Titanium carbide (TiC) nanoparticles were irradiated with a neutron flux (2x1013 n/cm2s) from a TRIGA Mark II research reactor. After neutron irradiation, the radioisotopes of trace elements in nanocrystalline TiC were studied as a function of time. The identification of isotopes that significantly increased the activity of the samples as a result of neutron irradiation was performed. Nanocrystalline TiC was synthesized using standard laser techniques, and the purity of the samples was determined using the k0-based Neutron Activation Analysis (k0-INAA) method. The concentration of trace elements in TiC nanoparticles was determined through the radionuclides of the corresponding elements. The concentration of trace element isotopes was calculated as a percentage according to the k0 -INAA method.
