EMPLOYEES OF THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS SPOKE AT AN INTERNATIONAL ONLINE CONFERENCE
AMEA-nın Fizika İnstitutunun direktoru, akademik Nazim Məmmədov, laboratoriya rəhbəri, akademik Arif Həşimov, fizika üzrə fəlsəfə doktorları Kamil Qurbanov, Rüstəm Rüstəmov və
Eldar Həsənov “Energetikanın texniki fiziki problemləri” (ICTPE-2020) mövzusunda beynəlxalq onlayn konfransda iştirak ediblər.
Director of the Institute of Physics of ANAS, academician Nazim Mammadov, head of laboratory, academician Arif Hashimov, Ph.D. in Physics Kamil Gurbanov, Rustam Rustamov and Eldar Hasanov took part in the international online conference on topic "Technical and physical problems of energy" (ICTPE-2020).
Republic of Azerbaijan was co-chaired by academician Arif Hashimov and academician Nazim Mammadov at the opening of the event organized by Istanbul Rumeli University of Turkey. In their speeches, they stressed that the discussed at the conference cover the current problems of energy systems and are important in terms of the contribution of countries to the future development of energy systems.
At the opening of the two-day conference, the co-chairs, Professors Nasser M. Tabatabaci, Javer Bilbao, Nicu Bison, wished success to the work of conference.

THE PRESIDENT OF ANAS GOT ACQUAINTED WITH THE MATERIAL AND TECHNICAL BASE OF THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS AND THE CONDITIONS CREATED HERE
President of the national Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, familiarized himself
with the research work carried out at the Institute of Physics, the material and technical base and the conditions created for employees.
The event was also attended by members of the Presidium of ANAS - first vice-presidents academician Isa Gabibbeyli and academician
Ibragim Guliyev, vice-presidents academician Irada Huseynova, academician Dilgam Tagiyev, academician Rasim Aliguliyev, academician Tofik Nagiyev, academic Secretary, corresponding member of ANAS aminaga Sadigov.
ANAS President academician Ramiz Mehdiyev and members of the Presidium got acquainted with the latest devices installed in the innovation sector of the Institute of physics. The employees informed the management of ANAS about the principle of operation, the structure of the devices, and the research conducted here.
Then the members of the Presidium of ANAS met with the leadership of the Institute. The meeting was attended by Director of the Institute, academician Nazim Mammadov, Deputy Director for research, academician Javad Abdinov, Deputy Director for innovation and transfers, doctor of physical and mathematical Sciences Ayaz Bayramov.
Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev expressed satisfaction with the conditions created in the research institution, noting that the Institute's staff provided detailed information about the work done here. The head of the Academy also said that the Institute has some shortcomings, noting that these shortcomings, along with budgetary funds, need to be eliminated through internal resources and various projects and grants. Regarding scientific activities, the head of ANAS said that the main attention should be paid to the practical application of science. Stressing that the Institute of physics has all the conditions for this, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev noted that scientific potential plays a key role in conducting effective research. He said that the Academy of Sciences should pay special attention to three priority areas - physics, chemistry and biology, as well as combine all the potential in this area.
Describing the history of the creation of a research institution, Director of Institute of Physics academician Nazim Mammadov said that in 2002, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic Institute of Physics was created at the Institute of physics named after Hasan Abdullayev and Institute of Photoelectronics. He noted that the Institute of Physics works in 4 main scientific areas (condensed matter physics, physical and technical foundations of optoelectronics, nuclear and high-energy physics, physical and technical problems of power engineering).
First Vice-President of ANAS, academician Ibragim Guliyev, spoke about solar panels developed by scientists of the Institute of Physics and noted that they are not used yet due to some problems.
The President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, stressed the importance of further expansion of scientific research in various areas and gave relevant instructions and recommendations to the Institute's management.

olmağımız dünya xəritəsindəki yerimizdən də böyük və dərindir. Ötən il Sizin inamla “Qarabağ Azərbaycandır!” söyləməyiniz, dədə-baba torpaqlarımızın tez bir zamanda düşmən tapdağından azad ediləcəyinə dəlalət edirdi.
Düz bir ildən sonra Sizin Ali Baş Komandanlığınızla Azərbaycan bayrağının öz doğma torpaqlarına qayıdışı başlandı. Azərbaycan Milli Elmlər Akademiyası Fizika İnstitutunun kollektivi olaraq Sizin qüdrətli
Azərbaycan uğrunda apardığınız haqq işində yanınızdayıq və inanırıq ki, tez bir zamanda Qarabağda biz də öz üzərimizə düşən missiyanı Azərbaycan elminin çiçəklənməsi naminə yerinə yetirəcəyik.

AZERBAIJAN-FRENCH UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES AT THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS
Fhilipp Turek, professor at the University of Strasbourg, Robin Merin, physics teacher at the Azerbaijan-French
University and Vazekh Askerov, executive director of the Azerbaijan-French University (AFU) visited the Institute
of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The visitors met with the director of the Institute
of Physics, academician Nazim Mamedov to discuss cooperation opportunities.
AFU was founded on the initiative of the presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan and France in 2014. The University
has been operating since 2016. Sudents study in 4 technical specialties. The project is led by a consortium of French universities under the leadership of the French University of Strasbourg, and the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry.
The academician N. Mamedov noted that the main scientific areas of the Institute activity are the following: the
condensed state physics, physical and technical foundations of optoelectronics, nuclear physics, high energy physics, as well as physical and technical problems of energy. He spoke about the research and developments being done at the Institute of Physics, international relations of the Institute and perspectives for further cooperation with UFAZ.
Deputy director of the Institute of Physics for scientific issues, Javad Abdinov, Deputy director of the Institute
of Physics for Innovation and transfer, doctor of Physics and mathematics, Ayaz Bayramov, and head of the department
of Education, Doctor of Physics and mathematics Abasat Isayev attended the meeting.
Later, the guests got acquainted with modern material and technical base the of Innovation Sector of the Institute
of Physics.

DIRECTOR OF THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS IS AWARDED BY MEDAL
On February 7, 2020 at a meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, the President
of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mekhtiyev solemnly presented the jubilee medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan “100th
anniversary of Baku State University (1919-2019)” to the Academician Nazim Mamedov, director of the Institute of
Physics. The collective of the Institute of Physics of ANAS congratulates the academician Nazim Mammadov with an
award, wishes him long healthy life and success in his scientific activity.

A REPORT WAS HEARD ON THE TOPIC "NANOTECHNOLOGY" AT THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS
The Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) presents the report of the Deputy Director for Innovation and Transfers, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Ayaz Bayramov on the topic "Nanotechnology".
The seminar was attended by Director of the Institute Academician Nazim Mammadov, Advisor to the President of ANAS on Innovation and Commercialization of Science Academician Ali Abbasov, Senior Researcher Yegana Aliyeva. First of all, A. Bayramov noted the work done at the institute in the field of nanotechnologies, their areas of application.
They then exchanged views on the topic and discussed opportunities for cooperation. Forward-looking plans for the future were discussed. The guest got acquainted with the most modern devices installed in the Innovation sector.
Employees informed the guest in detail about the principle of the devices, their design and the research conducted here.

INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS AND MINISTRY OF ENERGY DISCUSSED OPPORTUNITIES FOR JOINT COLLABORATION
A video conference was held between Institute of Physics of ANAS and Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, Deputy Minister Elnur Soltanov, Adviser to the Minister Javid Abdullayev, Assistant Minister Rauf Rzayev, Sector Director of the Ministry Jahid Mikayilov, Deputy Director of the State Agency for
Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy Tabriz Ammayev, Director of the Institute of Physics of ANAS, academician Nazim Mammadov Deputy Director for Innovation and Transfer, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Ayaz Bayramov.
Ayaz Bayramov delivered a lecture on "Development of advanced thin-layer technologies at the Institute of Physics of ANAS" at the video conference. He gave a brief overview of the current state of thin-film solar cells, spoke about the creation
of new types of solar cells at the institute and future plans. Afterwards, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and academician Nazim Mammadov exchanged views on the topic and discussed opportunities for collaboration.

January 20: EMPLOYEES OF THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS HONORED
THE MEMORY OF MARTYRS
Opening the general meeting of employees of the Institute of Physics, the director of the Institute, academician Nazim Mammadov noted that on the night of January 19 to 20, 1990, the Soviet government, motivating its
decision to calm the unrest in Azerbaijan, in particular in its capital, Baku, issued a decree troops into the city, which was carried out without announcement to residents of the city about the establishment of an
emergency regime and curfew. As a result of the actions of the troops of the Soviet Army, on January 20, 146 people were killed, 744 wounded, 841 people were illegally arrested, which was subsequently qualified as a
crime that violates the rights of Azerbaijani citizens and undermines the people's faith in democracy. Academician D.Sh. Abdinov made an overview of the reasons that led to the unrest in Azerbaijan and the actions
of the Soviet Army on January 20. He noted that the main reason for the events in Azerbaijan was the actions of the Armenian separatists to dismember Azerbaijan, which was supported by the government of the USSR,
while not fulfilling its main function - protecting the territorial integrity and people of Azerbaijan. Doctors of sciences Ali Mammadov, Mirbaba Babaev, Ph.D. Sitara Bagirova, Ulker Samedova and others also spoke
at the general meeting. Video recordings and slides of past events were demonstrated.
The general meeting honored the memory of martyrs on January 20 with a minute of silence.
